James F. Zachary

James Zachary received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Illinois in 1983. He is an associate professor in the UIUC department of Veterinary Pathobiology. His fields of professional interest are mechanisms of ultrasound-tissue interactions, acoustic microscopy, neuropathology, neuroimmunoendocrinology, and neurodegenerative diseases.

Honors and awards: Editor-in-Chief, Veterinary Pathology (1994-1997); Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Pathologists, 1983-present.

James Zachary's research in the Beckman Institute deals with the mechanisms by which acoustic energy interacts with biologic tissues and fluids. His research includes (1) quantitative flow assessment by ultrasonic evaluation; (2) acoustic imaging of biologic tissues and tumors; and (3) mechanism of tissue injury induced by ultrasound.

Zachary's sources of research funding are from NIH and private corporations.
